MERCERSBURG, PA— With the colder autumn temperatures beginning to come into the region, Whitetail Resort is busily preparing for the upcoming 2012-2013 winter season. Season Passes have gone on sale for the season, and the resort has introduced a new pre-season offer of Resort Cash for anyone who purchases a Season Pass before September 30.
Anyone who purchases an unlimited individual Season Pass will receive $50 in Resort Cash directly onto their pass. Those who purchase unlimited family Season Passes receive $50 for themselves, and each family member. Those who purchase a Midweek, Night, or Senior Midweek Season Pass will receive $25 in Resort Cash. The Resort Cash is then used like a debit card and is valid for anything sold at the resort.
Season Passes remain the same price as last season at $439. This price will remain in effect until October 31; afterwards the price will rise to $639.
Resort employees are also working on resort improvements for the upcoming winter season including significant upgrades to the snowmaking operation. The snowmaking upgrades, including new nozzles for the resort’s supply of Wizard Fan Guns, will increase snowmaking productivity by at least 50% on eight different trails. Additional fan guns have been added to the Sidewinder trail, and upgrades have also been made to the automated snowmaking hydrants, allowing the resort to utilize less electrical energy when they make snow. Other capital improvements at the resort include new family sized seasonal lockers, a brand new user friendly Whitetail Resort website, and new junior Elan rental skis.
“With the special Resort Cash offer for Season Pass holders and the capital improvements we have undertaken we know the upcoming winter will be even better for our guests,” stated Whitetail Resort Director of Marketing, Katrina Gayman. “We know the cold weather is just around the corner and are very much looking forward to the winter season.”
Another sign of the fall season at the resort is the 12th Annual Great Outdoors Festival which will occur October 27 and 28 at Whitetail Resort. Resort staff are busy preparing for the event which will include two new events this year. The Whitetail Resort 1st Annual Chili Cook-Off Competition and the Whitetail Resort 1st Annual Fall Downhill 5-K Trail Run will both occur on Saturday, October 27 and are open to the public. Reservations are being taken now through October 15 for the Chili Cook-Off which will be limited to the first 25 entrants. Pre-registration ends on October 15th for the Trail Run and will be limited to the first 300 runners to sign up.
